Author Leigh-Ann Ouellet

Leigh-Ann is a New Brunswick author and entrepreneur who believes storytelling is a superpower. As the founder of a boutique publishing company, she helps emerging authors turn their lived experiences into legacy. Elle retrace leur étymologie à travers l’histoire. Les deux langues officielles du Canada partagent davantage de points communs qu’il n’y paraît. The former French teacher presents results of more than thirty years of fascinating research on English words borrowed from Old French. She traces their etymology throughout history. Canada’s two official languages share more similarities than meets the eye. Ginette Goguen, as a bilingual person, shares her love for French and English languages. Her palpable passion will leave no one indifferent, whether they are language and history enthusiasts or novices. The list of usual terms is, of course, not exhaustive, but remains no less surprising. Let’s hope readers will not be able to help but undertake their own research!

Author Michelle McLean

Michelle McLean is a proud mother and clinical social worker with a passion for music, personal growth, gorgeous nature excursions and treasure-seeking of all forms. Her poetry has been featured in Quills, elm & ampersand, Ascent Aspirations, Peacock Journal, Understorey, Sulfur, and others. Her collection of children’s poetry, When Pigs Fly and Other Poems, was published in 2020 by Chapel Street Editions and illustrated by her eldest daughter, Sophie Arseneau. Her youngest son, Felix Arseneau, was a contributing illustrator. Michelle’s second poetry collection, Tesserae, was released in April 2024 and traces the journey of trauma, grief, addiction and recovery. Michelle and her family live in Carlow, New Brunswick.

Author Angel-Leigh Fox

Angel is a devoted mother of three exceptional children and the wife of a loyal and supportive husband. In addition to her role as a mother and spouse, she is a multifaceted local artist, singer/songwriter, First Aid instructor, and face painter, balancing these creative pursuits alongside her full-time career. After many years of hesitating due to concerns of ridicule and rejection, Angel has found the courage to share her personal story, with the hope that others may find inspiration and growth, as she herself has.

Author Bernard Bourque

Bernard J. Bourque, PhD, was born and raised in Sackville, New Brunswick. He is an Adjunct Senior Lecturer at the University of New England (Australia) and is the author of eight scholarly books and numerous peer-reviewed journal articles in the field of seventeenth-century French literature. His fictional works include the novels in the Mr. Louis trilogy (Mr. Louis, The Shock Reader, and Upper-Case G) and the novels in the Lupine trilogy (To Pick a Lupine, A Tale of Three Lupines, and Corfu Seductions). The primary setting of the six novels is Campobello Island (New Brunswick), where Bernard lived for thirteen years. His latest novel, The Florentine Oracle, is described as a gentle thriller. He has acted in numerous theatrical productions and appeared as a background actor in the feature film To Keep the Light (2016; filmmaker Erica Fae), in the television series Frontier (2016; Netflix and Discovery), and in the television series Mont-Rouge (2024: Ici Télé - Radio-Canada). A strong advocate of literacy, Bernard is a past chair of the New Brunswick Public Libraries Board and a past chair of the Campobello Public Library Board. He now lives in Riverview, New Brunswick, with his wife, Sandra.

Author Odette Barr

Odette Barr is a retired teacher who enjoys many hobbies and interests. She has drawn, painted and created art as long as she can remember. Although Odette has always enjoyed writing (mainly nature-themed nonfiction), she only discovered her love of writing children’s fiction in 2014. Odette is a former interpretive naturalist with the Canadian Wildlife Service and Parks Canada—she takes great delight in wandering through natural habitats and is constantly awestruck by the wonders of the natural world. Much of her writing is inspired by nature. Odette is co-author and illustrator for the Camelia Airheart children’s adventure series: Follow the Goose Butt to Prince Edward Island (Acorn Press, Fall 2023), Follow the Goose Butt to Nova Scotia (Chocolate River, 2018) and Follow the Goose Butt, Camelia Airheart! (Chocolate River, 2016). She and her co-authors also wrote a picture book, Take Off to Tantramar (Chocolate River, 2017), which was the winner of that year’s Alice Kitts Memorial Award for Excellence in Children’s Writing at the NB Book Awards. Odette placed second in the 2019 Pottersfield Prize for Creative Nonfiction, resulting in the publication of her memoir, Teaching at the Top of the World (Pottersfield, 2020), which documents a decade of teaching Inuit students in the territory of Nunavut. Odette and her partner, YoAnne, share their idyllic lives with a 5-yr-old standard poodle, in a cedar log home on the Northumberland Strait shore.

Author Joyce Rice

I am an Indigenous author from Quispamsis, New Brunswick. I grew up in the small coastal town of St. Alban’s, Newfoundland. As one of fourteen siblings, I faced my fair share of challenges. In January 2024, I self-published my first middle-grade book, "Bray and the Adventures of Zorkon," fulfilling a long-cherished dream. I hope my books are a testament to my persistence and inspire you to embrace who you are and never give up on your dreams. I have a deep love for writing, and my passion for bringing stories to life through words continues to grow stronger. "The Rise of Little Bear," my second book in the Zorkon series, is set to be released in October or early November. Together, we radiate a brighter and more beautiful light than we could ever do alone.

Author Allan Hudson

I live in Dieppe, New Brunswick, Canada, with my wife Gloria. I began writing in my mid 50s with no intention of stopping. Since 2013 I have published 10 novels and partaken in four anthologies. Happily retired, I spend most mornings working on my stories and publishing my blog, the South Branch Scribbler where I feature authors and other creatives, as well as my own stories. The rest of my days are spent with book related projects, time with family and other important issues, such as napping and taking life easy.

Author Carolle Arsenault

Carolle Arsenault est originaire de Richibucto. Elle a fait ses études à l’Université de Moncton en psychologie avant de se rediriger en éducation. Pendant 30 ans, elle s’est régalée d’une carrière auprès d’adolescents à qui elle a enseigné l’histoire du Canada et de l’Acadie surtout. Passionnée de la lecture depuis toujours et obsédée par l’idée d’écrire, ce n’est qu’en 2012 qu’elle trouvera finalement le courage d’amorcer la rédaction d’un premier roman historique qui sera publié en 2018. Celui-ci lui méritera le prix France-Acadie l’année suivante. Carolle vit présentement à Shediac. Sa famille, son conjoint et leurs trois fils, est sa plus grande source de fierté.

Bea Waters has been writing stories since childhood. Her favourite themes centre around the secrets we keep and the quest to find our tribe, our community. Her favourite characters are the weirdos, those who have been downcast by the status quo, because the wheel was not invented by the status quo. The future is never dreamt up by the status quo. Project Human is Bea's first published novel fusing the genres of Science Fiction and Fantasy with Ancient Mythology from around the world. The sequel, Atlantis Rising, will be published for Christmas 2025.

Yvonne was born in a small town located in New Brunswick, Canada.

Author Joe Mahoney

Joe Mahoney is an author/publisher/broadcaster, recently retired from the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, where, for over more than three decades, he worked in several roles including recording engineer, producer, and several operational management roles. He currently runs Donovan Street Press Inc., an indie press based in Riverview, New Brunswick. Joe is the author of the SF novel A Time and a Place, the memoir Adventures in the Radio Trade, and the short story collection Other Times and Places, all available from Donovan Street Press Inc. He's written and produced several radio shows on science fiction for CBC Radio, and has worked as a story editor on multiple radio, television and film projects including CBC Radio's Steve the First and Steve the Second, both seasons of Canadia: 2056, Canadian author and filmmaker Susan Rodger's feature film Still the Water, and more (see complete bibliography below). Joe is co-host of the podcast Re-Creative with Mark A. Rayner, a podcast about art and creativity.

Cet album jeunesse est écrit en trois langues, soit en français, wolostoqiyik et anglais. Hélène travaille présentement sur son premier roman pour adultes. Originally from Southeast New Brunswick, Hélène Devarennes is a children's book author that is passionate about everything related to the imagination. Through her works, she aims to stimulate the imagination of young readers to help them discover and better understand the world around them. Hélène has been invited to various book fairs and other literary events in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Quebec, Ontario, Manitoba,Yukon and France. In 2019, she received the Marilyn Trenholme Counsell Literacy Award in the published author category for A Pony Day! This children's book is written in three languages: French, Wolostoqiyik, and English. Hélène is currently working on her first novel for adults.

Author Monique Ferguson

Monique Ferguson is a crime fiction author who blends fast-paced storytelling with rich character development. The Blake & Turner series follows journalist Sienna Blake and RCMP detective Megan Turner as they tackle dangerous cases, uncover dark secrets, and push the boundaries of justice. Monique strives to craft stories that offer readers both thrilling suspense and complex emotional depth. Author Angella Cormier

Angella Cormier grew up in Saint Antoine, NB, Canada, where her love of reading and writing was born. Her curious nature about everything mysterious and paranormal helped carve the inspiration for her current passion of writing horror and mystery stories. She is also a published poet, balancing out her writing to express herself in these two very opposing genres. Angella owns Ancor Creative Solutions, with over 25 years of experience in multimedia & graphic design, she helps authors with their creative dreams.

Author Yolande Essiembre

Yolande Essiembre is an author, coach and workshop facilitator. Her passion for understanding human behavior and a lifelong interest in personal and spiritual growth led her to returned to university as an adult to pursue her dream of becoming a therapist. She holds a Master of Theology degree, along with a certification in social work, a certificate in religious sciences, as well as accreditation in various types of counseling and coaching. She is the mother of four children and grandmother to two beautiful granddaughters.

Author Don Bourque

Don Bourque lives in Maple Hills, New Brunswick. His writing career sprouted forth from the humble beginnings of winning a Grade 9 essay contest and a Grade 12 teacher who told him to never stop writing. Now, he is the author of multiple works, including a chapter of In Harm’s Way, Serving the Greater Good: Perspectives on Operational Duty (2006) and the Willow’s Wake trilogy: Willow: Awakened, Ascended, Avenged (2021), The Grand Chieftain (2023), and now The High Priestess (2023). Don has also worked in public education, in the private mental health sector, and spent thirty-seven years in the Army Reserve with an operational tour in Afghanistan, retiring in 2020 at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. These experiences, plus his studies in sociology, anthropology, and psychology, inform his writing. Outside of writing, Don was a drummer in a few pipe and drum bands and has been involved with numerous veteran and community associations, including the Army Cadet League of Canada and the Royal Canadian Legion. Don is currently President of the Writers’ Federation of New Brunswick. He enjoys spending time with friends and family, having two stepdaughters and several grandchildren.

Author Laurie Glenn Norris

Laurie Glenn Norris is a writer of historical fiction and non-fiction. She has written Found Drowned (Vagrant Press, 2019); Haunted Girl: Esther Cox and the Great Amherst Mystery (Nimbus, 2013), a finalist for the 2013 Atlantic Book Awards, Democracy 250 Award for Historical Writing and optioned for a feature film, and Cumberland County Facts and Folklore (Nimbus, 2009). Laurie has written book reviews and articles for Quill and Quire, Atlantic Books Today, the Saint John Telegraph-Journal, and, the Royal Nova Scotia Historical Society Journal. She managed the Maritime Writers’ Workshops, for two years, at the University of New Brunswick and has presented talks and readings at numerous conferences and festivals including Word on the Street, Esther Fest, The Frye Festival, Cumberland Genealogy Society, Maritime Writers’ Workshops and UNB Extended Learning Courses. She was employed for many years in the heritage and culture fields, and holds a MA in Art History, a B.Ed. and a BA. She is a member of the writers’ federations of Nova Scotia and New Brunswick, the Royal Nova Scotia Historical Society, and the Minudie Heritage Association. Laurie is currently working on a non-fiction book of letters currently titled Paper Remains: Rediscovering a Forgotten Nova Scotia Family. She shares her River Hebert, Nova Scotia home with husband Barry, kitty cat Dinah, and many books.
