Author Hannah State

Hannah D. State is an award-winning Atlantic Canadian author. She graduated from McGill University with a BA and earned her MPL from Queen’s University. Hannah is bothered by inequality, violence, greed, complacency, snakes, entering a dark room, and not getting enough sleep. She enjoys writing about strong-willed characters who don’t fit the norm and who overcome great obstacles with perseverance, self-discovery, and help from others. Sometimes Hannah can’t keep up with her characters’ ideas and plans, so she takes breaks, drinks coffee, does yoga and tai chi, and takes nature walks to calm her mind and really listen. Her second novel, Journey to the Dark Galaxy, was nominated for the 2025 Ann Connor Brimer Award for Atlantic Canadian Children’s Literature.

Author Yolande Essiembre

YOLANDE ESSIEMBRE loves living in Shediac, New Brunswick. She often retreats to the wharf to reflect, cool down, or watch an amazing sunset. Her lifelong passion for understanding human behavior, and her interest in personal and spiritual development led her to study psychology and theology as an adult. Her new passion is writing. As an author, her intent is to inspire and spread hope. She published her first book, Long-Lost Mom at the age of 75. She is also published in The Second Anthology of Shediac Writers, and her Chapbook, The Great White Egret, is her first attempt at writing poetry.

Author Don Bourque

Don Bourque makes his home in Maple Hills, New Brunswick, having been born and raised in the Moncton area. His writing career sprouted forth from the humble beginnings of winning an essay contest on fire prevention in the ninth grade, and a Grade 12 English teacher who told him to never stop writing. Don dabbled in poetry writing, but never had any of his works published. Now, he is the author of multiple published works of prose, including a chapter of In Harm’s Way, Serving the Greater Good: Perspectives on Operational Duty (2006) and the Willow’s Wake trilogy: Willow: Awakened, Ascended, Avenged, The Grand Chieftain, and The High Priestess (2021-2023). Don has also worked in public education, in the private mental health sector, and spent thirty-seven years in the Army Reserve with an operational tour in Afghanistan. He currently sits as President of the Writers’ Federation of New Brunswick.

I live in Dieppe, New Brunswick, Canada, with my wife Gloria. I began writing in my mid 50s with no intention of stopping. Since 2013 I have published 10 novels and partaken in four anthologies. Happily retired, I spend most mornings working on my stories and publishing my blog, the South Branch Scribbler where I feature authors and other creatives, as well as my own stories. The rest of my days are spent with book related projects, time with family and other important issues, such as taking life easy.

Author Zev Bagel

Novelist and poet Zev Bagel has lived in the UK, France and Canada, where he spent 15 years in Calgary and now resides in Shediac, New Brunswick. As Warren Redman, he has had seventeen non-fiction books published (one a Canadian award-winner) and as Zev Bagel, six of his novels have been published so far: Bernie Waxman & the Whistling Kettle (short-listed for the Atlantic literary awards) Secrets Solitary (winner of the 2021 David Adams Richards Award) The Last Jew in Hania The Romanian Cleaning Lady Sopworth’s Foibles One unpublished novel – Seeking Isak Lowenstein, won the 2023 David Adams Richards Award. His latest book of poetry: Life…is a multicoloured journey, accompanies the paintings of artist Nicole Tremblay.

Author Christopher Sweet

Christopher is the author of four published works, including his newest novel of supernatural horror, The Orchid Room. He’s worked as a freelance writer, manager, waiter, bartender, event DJ, actor, children’s entertainer, truck driver, shopkeeper, call centre operator, concierge, office assistant, barista, supply teacher, and—most recently—a campground manager. Christopher is an avid reader and a lover of cinema. He's a nature hound who isn't above crawling through the dirt to get a closer look at a particularly interesting beast, bird, or bug. He lives with his growing tribe of people and pets on a peaceful river in New Brunswick’s Acadian Peninsula. His forthcoming sci-fi / horror novel, Encore, is set to hit shelves in Spring 2026.

Author Angella Cormier

Angella Cormier grew up in St-Antoine, in southeast New Brunswick, Canada. It was in this small town’s library where her love of reading and writing were born. Her curious nature about everything mysterious and paranormal helped carve the inspiration for her current passion of writing horror and mystery stories. She now owns and operates “Ancor Creative Solutions” as a personal creative assistant, where she proudly helps other writers with their cover design and book formatting, among many other services.

Raymonde Savoie was born in Saint-Maurice, a small village just north of Bouctouche, New Brunswick. Writing has always been her main interest but the natural world also entices her into many other areas of life, such as making handmade journals, birding, growing gardens and listening to her dreams. Writing a book is an arduous task, and Raymonde found her inspiration in her dreams that helped her throughout the process of sorting through, and healing from, the childhood abuse she suffered as a young child. Dreams do heal and are welcome friends along the path of trying to become one's true, honest, adult Self.

Author Evan Jones

Evan Jones is a high school Engish teacher and writer. He was inspired to create his first book from a profound desire to help students who were struggling with finding thier path in life and making that transition easier for those who have already passed through his doors. Before becoming a teacher, Evan earned a masters degree in history from Carleton University in 2015. He has traveled extensively, studying Buddhist practices of awareness and meditation at Wat Samai Kongka, a Buddhist temple and monastery in Koh Pha-Ngan, Thailand. He now teaches full time and often offers mindfulness courses designed to help young teachers build resilience in the post-COVID teahcing world. Evan Lives in Moncton, New Brunswick with his cat, Maisie.

Author Mandie Dufour

Mandie Dufour is a sci-fi, fantasy and horror writer. They have a love of stories in all forms, going on to graduate with a degree in English literature from Saint Thomas in 2015. A love for people and a fascination with biology led them to receive valedictorian in their massage therapy program in 2018. The writing community both on and offline provides them with joy and motivation. The Canadian Maritimes where they live with their wife and two ferrets serve as a source of great inspiration. They also draw from their experience as a Norse pagan as well as observations on life and human nature.

Author Joe Mahoney

Joe Mahoney is an author/publisher/broadcaster, recently retired from the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, where, for over more than three decades, he worked in several roles including recording engineer, producer, and several operational management roles. He currently runs Donovan Street Press Inc., an indie press based in Riverview, New Brunswick. Joe is the author of the SF novel A Time and a Place, the memoir Adventures in the Radio Trade, and the short story collection Other Times and Places, all available from Donovan Street Press Inc. He's written and produced several radio shows on science fiction for CBC Radio, and has worked as a story editor on multiple radio, television and film projects. Joe is co-host of Re-Creative with Mark A. Rayner, a podcast about art and creativity.

Author Bea Waters

Bea Waters has been writing stories since childhood. She is fascinated with ancient cultures, infusing her stories with ancient mythologies and hidden knowledge to create a compelling narrative that tugs at a loose string, daring us to remember what has been lost. Her favourite themes centre around the secrets we keep and the quest to find our tribe, our community. Her favourite characters are the weirdos, those who are downcast by the status quo, because the future is never created by status quo; it is created by those who dare to dream. Chuck Bowie is a New Brunswick writer who writes mysteries. He (as Chuck) is the author of six International Suspense-Thrillers in his Donovan: Thief for Hire series, and (as Alexa Bowie) has penned four Cozy Mysteries in the Old Manse Mysteries series. He is currently writing a (Book 7) thriller, set in the Mediterranean, and is researching a (Book 5) Cozy, set in the Miramichi and in Ireland. He has sat on the Boards of the Writers' Federation of New Brunswick, the Writers' Union of Canada, and is a Fellow of the Kingsbrae International Residence for the Arts. He is also a member of the Miramichi Literary Trail.

Author Joe Powers

Joe Powers is a Canadian horror writer, New Brunswick native, and long-time fan of all things scary. He's the author of Terror in High Water, Seventeen Skulls, Old Bones, and Putting Down Roots. His short stories have appeared in various anthologies and collections, including Mirrors of Malice: Twisted Reflections, a collaboration with his wife Sheryl. Among his many inspirations he lists Stephen King, Jack Ketchum, Michael Crichton, Vincent Price, Peter Benchley and Richard Matheson. He enjoys introducing the reader to flawed, believable characters and leading them on dark journeys with an unexpected twist. Joe enjoys poking around in the dark recesses of nature, off the beaten path, chasing down old legends and new stories. In his spare time, he's an avid hockey fan and dog lover, and still finds time to teach several classes at UNB's College of Extended Learning. Joe currently lives in Maugerville with his wife and fellow author, Sheryl, and an assortment of creatures.

Jane Tims is a writer, biologist and historian. She has published many books (mystery, poetry and science fiction), some under the name Alexandra Tims. She illustrates most of her books. Her most recent books include a mystery published by Merlin Star Press: ‘Open to the Skies,’ about repurposing an old church. She won the 2016 Alfred G. Bailey prize for her poetry manuscript ‘mnemonic,’ about bird song, published by Chapel Street Editions (2024). She was also shortlisted for The Fiddlehead Poetry Book Prize (2022 NB Book Awards) for a glimpse of water fall.

Author/Poet Jordan Trethewey

Jordan Trethewey lives in Nashwaaksis, with his wife, son, and daughter. He was the first writer-in-residence at the Fredericton Region Museum, (2015) and a past City of Fredericton Poet Laureate (2021-2024). Jordan’s writing appears in many journals, such as Maclean’s, Arc Poetry Magazine, and Spillwords; and on the right shoulder blade of a fan. Some of his work is translated in Vietnamese, Farsi, and French. Jordan’s latest book is “Peculiar Portraits” (2026). Author Lou Spaccio

Lou Spaccio is a queer writer with a background in freelance editing and illustration. While their heart belongs to high fantasy and slow-burn love stories, Tails of Us marks their author debut by taking a long-shelved piece first written in high school and giving it new life. Originally from the U.S. but now living in Canada, Lou enjoys a quiet life with their loving wife, sweet-as-can-be puppy dog, and cute yet frequently nefarious kitty. When not writing or drawing, they can be found hosting Dungeons & Dragons campaigns, watching horror game walkthroughs, or consuming copious amounts of coffee and tea.

Author Bernard Bourque

Bernard J Bourque, PhD, was born and raised in Sackville, New Brunswick. He is an Adjunct Senior Lecturer at the University of New England (Australia) and is the author of eight scholarly books and numerous peer-reviewed journal articles in the field of seventeenth-century French literature. His fictional works include the novels in the Mr. Louis trilogy (Mr. Louis, The Shock Reader, and Upper-Case G) and the novels in the Lupine trilogy (To Pick a Lupine, A Tale of Three Lupines, and Corfu Seductions). His latest novel, The Florentine Oracle, was published in 2025. He has acted in numerous theatrical productions and appeared as a background actor in the feature film To Keep the Light (2016; filmmaker Erica Fae), in the television series Frontier (2016; Netflix and Discovery), and in the television series Mont-Rouge (2024: Ici Télé - Radio-Canada). A strong advocate of literacy, Bernard is a past chair of the New Brunswick Public Libraries Board and a past chair of the Campobello Public Library Board. He now lives in Riverview, New Brunswick, with his wife, Sandra.

Frederick won the WFNB Alfred G. Bailey Prize for best poetry manuscript (2014), placed 2nd in the WFNB Writing Competition individual poem category (1990s), and 2nd in the single poem category in 2025, won the Edwin Flaherty Prize for Creative Writing (STU, 1978), was a regional finalist for a songwriting contest held by STARTRAK (1990s), and received an NB Arts Council Grant (1990). Author Kellee Kranendonk

Kellee Kranendonk has spent a lifetime writing. Her late grandfather claimed she was born with pen and paper in hand. These days he’d probably claim she was born clutching a laptop. She has published several stories and poems, and has three published novels – In the End, Book 1 and Motherhood of the Moon, Book 2, both published by Howling Wolf Press, and available for sale at multiple online book sellers in e-form and paperback. Her most recent book is Poison Dreams, a self-published collection of some of her horror stories. Also available online.
